Abu Dhabi: Maya Saseendran, a nursing supervisor at the Musafa LLH Hospital, has been honoured with the UAE Labour Market Award for her unparalleled dedication to nursing. A native of Koodal in Pathanamthitta district, Maya takes care of patients who do not have any bystanders or relatives. Maya is the only Malayali to win the award in the nursing category. She won the award for her ability to lead a team of nurses who excel in the healthcare sector.

The jury noted that nurses are crucial in providing great health care and mental support to the expatriate community and that Maya’s service in this sector was invaluable. Maya, who believes in the power of caring with love, doesn’t mind serving her patients even beyond her duty hours, observed the jury. Besides, she perfectly performed her duty as a nursing supervisor to instil the profession's responsibilities in young nurses. She inspired them to widen their experience by updating their knowledge through social service.

Maya received a cash award of Rs 17 lakh, a gold coin, free health insurance, a mobile phone and a discount card. Maya, who has worked in the healthcare sector for the last 13 years, has also won the Best Nurse, Best Performer Price and Gem of the Quarter awards at the Burj Group. Besides, she was among the nurses honoured by the Malayali Samajam during the Covid 19 pandemic. Maya is the daughter of Saseendran and Leela. Her husband, Aji Nainan, who hails from Kottayam, and their son, Aron, who is a class five student, live in Pathanamthitta. Maya credits her family and the hospital management for their incredible support that helps her provide the best service to her patients.
