She once called Indian food 'disgusting' on her show 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians,' but the global celebrity is all set to attend the Anant Ambani - Radhika Merchant wedding in Mumbai today. She has arrived with her sister Khloe in Mumbai and has already started turning heads in her chic outfit. Kim, who is known for her efforts to stay shapely, will be spoilt for choice at Mukesh Ambani's son's wedding as she is purely into plant-based foods now. As per reports, the wedding menu has many decadent plant-based food choices that celebs often rave about. But, why is Kim purely into the plant-based diet? The reason is a skin condition she has been suffering for a long time - psoriasis. She has been suffering from the condition since 2011. A few years ago, she confessed to a prominent online portal, sharing a candid photo from the time she suffered from the condition, that opting for plant-based foods cured her psoriasis.
Does Kim's choice help everyone?
Interestingly, out of all the children in her family, Kim Kardashian is the only one who got psoriasis, which was passed down to her from her mom Kris Jenner. It was apparently all over the skin of her legs and stomach, she once said. If you suffer from psoriasis and would like to change your diet to see its benefits, here's what some prominent global health institutes say:
1) A cohort study by the National Institute of Health (NIH) on dietary behaviours in patients with psoriasis said the best results were achieved through vegan, pagan, and palaeolithic diets. Adding only veggies to these diets gave a favourable skin response in psoriasis patients.
2) Plant-based diet can decrease BMI and this can also improve skin condition in psoriasis patients. The diet also gives a good response in patients with psoriatic arthritis, according to NIH.
3) According to the Cleveland Clinic, those looking to fight the condition should include high-fibre fruits and veggies like leafy greens, blueberries, carrots and pears; protein sources like beans and lentils; healthy fats like avocados and walnuts in their diets.
4) If you are starting with a diet to calm psoriasis effects, start slowly and ease into the diet gradually.
