Pushpa actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who has been on a break for many months due to the auto-immune condition called myositis, recently revealed that she is all set to launch a health podcast. On her social media page, Samantha said, “It’s something I love. I'm extremely passionate about it and I'm very excited that it's releasing next week.” The last film of Samantha, who revealed in October last year about getting diagnosed with her condition, was Kushi in September 2023. Fans are speculating whether the motivation behind her new initiative is her recent break and treatment. Samantha hasn’t revealed anything on it yet, but she might use the platform to throw more light on myositis, according to her fans online.
What is myositis
A group of inflammatory muscle diseases that cause swelling in muscles, myositis can result in various complications that affect our organs, weakness of our bodies, and pain. There are many types of myositis and the most common ones are dermatomyositis which causes a skin rash and muscle inflammation, polymyositis that mainly affects muscles, Inclusion Body Myositis which causes muscle atrophy in wrists, fingers, thighs, and quadriceps, and juvenile dermatomyositis that affects children.
The exact cause of the disease is not known, but experts term it an autoimmune response that causes the body to attack its muscles. The treatment of the condition depends on its type and severity. Generally, a team approach is taken by healthcare professionals to treat myositis, collaborating with different specialists.
