Kottayam: Malayala Manorama is joining hands with Madras Medical Mission Hospital in Chennai to conduct free heart transplant surgeries for patients who cannot afford the surgery and the related treatment. The registration continues for the consultation camps that will be held before the surgeries. The first consultation camp of the ‘Hridayapoorvam’ project would be held on 28 and 29 May at Malayala Manorama office in Kozhikode and on 11 and 12 June at the Kottayam office. The follow-up tests and treatment eof those who had earlier undergone heart transplant surgeries via the ‘Hridayapoorvam’ project too would be done on these days. They should also register for the camps.
The expert doctors at the Medical Mission Hospital would lead the consultation camps and prepare a priority list of the patients who require the surgery. Registered patients should bring their previous medical records and tests results. They must also submit a certificate issued by the village officer that proves the family’s annual income to be less than Rs 40,000.
Madras Medical Mission Hospital’s Mobile Diagnostic Clinic (MDC) that is equipped with modern medical equipment to diagnose, test and screen for health conditions would be arranged at the camps. The patients can undergo tests like ECG, treadmill and eco cardiogram in this MDC.
Malayala Manorama and the Medical Mission Hospital will jointly bear the expenses, including the treatment and travel expenses, of the patients who are selected for the free heart transplant surgeries. For more details call: 98953 99491 (9 am – 6 pm).
