Nestled in the middle of lush greenery is this beautiful single-storey house at Pallikkara in Ernakulam, Kerala, that sprawls in 3200 sqft. The landscape plays a vital role in enhancing the splendid look of the minimal yet classy elevation. The gate opens to a well-designed driveway paved with tiles and natural grass.
The truss roof, meanwhile, is paved with regular roofing tiles adding a touch of traditional vibe. From the car porch, you need to cross a corridor to enter the house. The glass roofing and the green courtyard beside, the passage makes this space a dreamy entrance. The house has a car porch, corridor, sit-out, formal and family living areas, dining space, kitchen with a work area, four bedrooms with attached bathrooms and a courtyard.
The formal living area is arranged on the right side of the entrance door. This house was constructed after taking down their old house; so, the timber from the old structure has been reused for making the ceiling and furniture here.
Readymade furniture pieces that exude the elegance of colonial style are used in the formal living area. Meanwhile, the interiors mostly don white, wooden and grey shades that make the spaces look softer and chic. Flooring done in matte-finished tiles perfectly suits the general theme of the house. From the formal living area, you need to cross a quaint corridor to enter the dining space. The dining table that can accommodate up to eight people is a standard piece of furniture. Meanwhile, the wash area here is arranged ensuring privacy.
The open kitchen is on one side of the dining area while the family living area is on the other. A breakfast counter and lots of storage cabinets of marine plywood with laminate finish make the kitchen extremely space-efficient. The countertop, meanwhile, has been paved with classy granite. Besides, a work area and a utility space too are arranged adjacent to the main kitchen.
A TV unit is what separates the family living area and the dining space. Customised furniture sets have been mostly used at these areas. Meanwhile, full-length glass windows are added on both sides of the structure to enjoy the soothing views of the green landscape. The sliding glass door in the family living area opens to the courtyard outside where a sitting space and a glass roof have been arranged.
The bedrooms are as luxurious and cosy as the ones you see at swanky resorts. Cement ceiling boards in white paint finish are used in the master bedroom to grant a chic ambience. Besides, corner windows too have been added on both sides of the room. Meanwhile, the dressing spaces have lots of wardrobe units.
The bathrooms are separated into wet and dry areas, making it easier to keep them clean. Interestingly, a semi outdoor dining area is arranged here which isn’t commonly seen in other homes. Wire mesh is installed on a wall on one side and creepers are grown on them to turn this area into a canopy of greenery.
