Lalitha and Sachin decided to give their old single-storey house a makeover when it seemed to lack facilities that suited their modern lifestyle. The structure of the 35-year-old house was quite sturdy; so, they have revamped it by retaining most parts. However, the interior spaces that were built without any proper plan posed several challenges. Many redundant walls were torn down to rearrange spaces as per the new plan.

The elevation, now, dons a contemporary and flat box-style. Designed in 2500 sqft, this newly renovated house has a car porch, sit-out, formal and family living areas, dining space, kitchen with a work area, and two bedrooms on the ground floor. Meanwhile, there are two more bedrooms and a balcony on the upper floor.

The interior spaces in the old house were small and congested. Moreover, natural light and cool breeze shied away from entering the house. A spacious common area has been newly added by removing the redundant walls. Besides, more windows have been installed in the direction of light and air.

The old electrical and pipe fittings have been replaced with new ones to ensure better quality and safety. Meanwhile, old furniture pieces are mostly reused in the interiors. The old staircase that took up too much space gave way to a sleek spiral staircase.

The roofing sheet that prevented leakage was removed to add two bedrooms, balcony, and an open terrace on the upper floor.

More windows are installed in bedrooms to illuminate them with pleasant sunshine. Meanwhile, the walls here are highlighted with attractive wallpaper. The kitchen that was too large has been turned into a space-efficient modern kitchen. This house hardly looks like a renovated one as it dons chic contemporary features and modern facilities.
