Shaji, a social worker and businessman based in Chungam, near Feroke, Kozhikode district had always wanted to stay close to his ancestral home. So, he purchased a plot not more than a kilometre away from his relatives. However, it was quite a challenge designing a house in the plot that lies in two layers.

The plot was levelled before the construction began. The owner says that around 30% of the budget was spent just for levelling the plot and preparing the basement. He runs a business of interlocking blocks. So, these are paved in the front yard.
