It has been a dream of Krishnaprasad who works in the Indian Army to build his dream house at his hometown in Kadambanad in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala. The simple yet elegant house stands on an 11.5 cents plot the family had purchased from a relative. The owner wanted a minimal abode that has all the amenities for a small family to live comfortably.
The car porch isn’t built as part of the structure as Krishnaprasad is home only during vacations. He says that a car porch could be easily built, using lightweight materials, whenever it is required.
The clean box style of the elevation is chic and elegant. Meanwhile, a beautiful white hue has been mostly used in the interiors and in the exteriors too. A wall in the upper storey is highlighted using a bright sunshine yellow color to break the monotony.

The courtyard beside the sit-out is an elegant addition. The walls of this courtyard are built using Hurudees jali works. Besides, the courtyard has a pergola glass roof too. This area is aesthetically decorated with plants.
The entrance door opens to the minimally furnished living area. The spacious dining hall is just beside it. A courtyard and a stairway too have been built as part of this hall. The vertical pergola in the inner courtyard adds a unique charm to this area. A magnolia plant has been planted in the courtyard to fill the interiors with sweet fragrance. Moreover, this courtyard plays a pivotal role in illuminating the spaces with natural sunshine.
Expensive designer features like false ceiling or paneling haven’t been used in this house. Meanwhile, light points are directly installed. Moderately priced vitrified tiles have been used for flooring. The readymade furniture is classy and suits the general theme of the house.
There are two bedrooms in the ground floor while the third one is in the upper storey. The master bedroom has attached bathroom facilities. Besides, there is a common bathroom too.
The construction of this fabulous abode was completed on a pocket-friendly budget of Rs 35 lakh. The most amazing advantage of this simple house is that maintenance is easier and hassle-free. The flat box structure allows the family to build an additional floor, if required, in the future.
