Sojan, an expatriate has been staying at his ancestral home in Chalakkudy whenever he is in Kerala for the holidays. He purchased 11 cents plot near the ancestral house and decided to build a house there as he wished to upgrade his living standards. He had been following noted architect Shinto’s works on the social media. Impressed by the architect’s incredible style, Sojan didn’t have to thick twice to entrust the construction of his dream abode to Shinto.
Shinto had designed the long elevation to suit the structure of the rectangular plot. Meanwhile, the exterior features the contemporary flat – box style. A side of the outer wall is highlighted with unique pattern. Interestingly, the same design is continued on the boundary wall too. The HPL board in the center and the amazing wall claddings add to the chic look of the elevation.
Designed in 2686 sqft, this splendid abode has a car porch, sit out, formal and family living areas, dining area, patio, kitchen with a work area, four bedrooms, upper living area and a balcony.
The formal living area is arranged by ensuring privacy. A wall here is highlighted with green texture paint and is decorated with interesting wooden elements. The family living area and the dining space are part of the spacious hall. A semi partition enhanced with CNC cutting also acts as a design element here. An adjacent TV wall is what separates the family living area and the dining space.
The sliding glass door in the dining area opens to the patio. Round and shiny pebbles and beautiful indoor plants adorn this charming area.
The family living area is arranged beneath the stairway to save space. As the stair area is designed in double height, it acts as a connecting link between both the floors.
The hand railings of the stairway feature the classic combination of wood and toughened glass. Meanwhile, a study area and living space too are part of the upper storey.
The kitchen cabinets are done in multi wood with laminate finish. The counter top has been paved with granite. A quaint breakfast counter too has been arranged as part of the modern kitchen. An adjacent work area completes the kitchen area in this house.
The bath attached bedrooms have plenty of storage spaces. The full length wardrobes are compact and look classy too.
The family had recently celebrated the housewarming ritual of their brad new house. However, Sojan didn’t attend the function as he couldn’t fly due to the pandemic restrictions. He took part in the celebrations virtually through video calls. Sojan would, most probably, be able to come only by the end of next year. The family, though sad that Sojan isn’t here, is joyous about building the house of their dreams.
