Marzook wanted his brand new house at Vengara in Malappuram, Kerala, to be unique, and not resemble any other houses in the locality. The magnificent mansion designed in the colonial theme is classy and exudes regal panache. The slanting roof in multiple layers is paved with roofing tiles.
The gate is made using wood and plastic composite sheet. The structure is built by retaining most of the coconut palms that stood on the plot. Meanwhile, the front yard is paved with beautiful Shabad stones.
The fabulous mansion has a car porch, sit-out, formal and family living areas, dining space, and courtyard, kitchen with work area, five bedrooms and bathrooms. The owner wanted the car porch to be built separately from the structure. However, the porch looks like a miniature version of the structure as it follows the same theme.
A grand swinging cot is what grabs your attention as soon as the entrance door is opened. Interestingly, the swing hangers are in brass which gives it classy elegance. One could enter this space through a corridor with double height ceiling. The open spaces and the double height ceiling make the interiors look extremely vaster. The formal living area is arranged by ensuring enough privacy. Meanwhile, the family living area is arranged beneath the stairway to save space.
Flooring is done using royal Italian marble. The color theme of the house follows the shade of the flooring. Both the exterior and the interior walls don this chic cream hue. The hanging lights that adorn the walls are custom made and match the general theme of the house.
The stairway is entirely done in teak finish. Meanwhile, the hand railings feature toughened glass. The stair area too is in double height. This feature actually helps in maintaining a connection between both the floors. The dining area and the wash area are designed spectacularly. Laminate sheet which has a unique marble finish has been used on the table top and on the wall beside the wash area.
The kitchen is vast without any partitions. A quaint breakfast counter too is part of this extremely functional kitchen. The cabinets, meanwhile, are done in marine plywood with laminate finish. The counter top is paved with Italian marble.
There are three bedrooms in the ground floor and two in the upper storey. Each bedroom has been designed in unique themes. The bath attached bedrooms have in – built wardrobes and separate dressing spaces.
The family had celebrated the housewarming ceremony in October this year. They say that their guests are impressed by the luxurious features in their grand mansion and often shower praises for fulfilling their dream.
