Try this easy spiral planter using coconut shells and bamboo

As many as 6 -7 coconut shells could be arranged on a one and half meters long bamboo.

Many have turned to gardening and farming to beat the boredom during the lockdown. However, arranging and managing a garden is an expensive affair. Meanwhile, spiral gardens, that are incredibly attractive and less expensive, have become the latest rage among the gardening enthusiasts.

All you need for making a spiral garden or a planter are some coconut shells, few pieces of bamboo and coir rope. The coconut shells that are usually thrown out could be reused here. 6 -7 coconut shells could be arranged on a one and half meters long bamboo. You could then cover the bamboo using the coir rope. The coir should be tightly tied around the bamboo piece. You could then fix the coconut shells on it. Even though you could arrange them any pattern, the garden would look amazing if the shells are fixed in a spiral pattern on the bamboo.

To mark the correct spots, tie a white thread spirally on the bamboo. Now, screw in the coconut shells over this thread. Make holes on the shells using a driller and fix them on the bamboo using screws that are 1 inch long. The coir rope is tied on the bamboo for you to get the grip while grabbing them while drilling.

Plants that grow in water could be planted in these coconut shells. Such plants that are lighter should be used as the shells would be overloaded when they are filled with soil. Money plants too could be grown by filling the shells with clay balls and then watering them. These tiny plants would grow amazingly even if too much care isn’t given. Such spiral gardens could be arranged indoors, in the balconies or in the sit out.

If you plan to keep the spiral planter inside the house, it would be wise to arrange a proper stand to fix the bamboo. Or you could fill a pot with soil and then fix the bamboo in it. This would help you move the planter around easily.
