Ashwin had always dreamed of his house as a simple yet beautiful abode which is the perfect place to spend some of the most incredible moments with the family. When the family thought that their old house was too congested to accommodate everyone, they decided to construct a new house that is spacious and beautiful. It was his father Joseph Stanley who had helped in finding a talented architect to design the perfect house for them. They wished for an amazing house with all the modern facilities that could be built on a budget of Rs 50 lakh.
It was quite a challenge to build a new house on the 16.5 cents land, closer to the old house. As this land had a unique structure, it required excellent planning and execution to build a house here. However, Ashwin says that his concerns were half solved when his father introduced him to an architect who is an expert in space management. Leslie John Padamadan, chief architect and owner of the Pranavam Building Designs had prepared a foolproof plan and design catering to the likes and interests of the family. The house has 2024 sqft in area including the car porch and the work area. The construction of structure was done on contract basis. The rest of the works were entrusted to Ashwin’s friends in the locality.
The family preferred simple interiors without any over the top décor or furnishings. Their quest for a talented designer who could come up with minimal yet elegant designs took them to interior designer Monish. Meanwhile, Ashwin’s friend Premjith could amazingly execute the tile stone works just as the family had imagined.
The sit out is quaint and elegant. Meanwhile, the minimal designs of the drawing area and the family living space make them incredibly attractive. There are three bedrooms including the guest room. Two bedrooms are bath attached. There is a wash area and a common bathroom adjacent to the dining hall. The patio space enhances the overall look of the dining area. The spacious kitchen has an adjacent work area as well.
The interesting color combination of milky white and chocolate brown lends regal elegance to the interiors. The custom made furniture too follows this theme. The highlight wall where the TV unit has been installed is quite eye catching. The Royale Play crinkle pattern in metallic gold and light metallic brown is truly a winning combination here.
The stylish dining area is where you could perceive the amazing talent of the interior designer. The patio with the rain water fountain is mesmerizing. You could enjoy the delicious meals watching the scintillating beauty of the rains. The water recycling motor would create artificial rain even when it isn’t raining outside. A tank and a half HP motor too are part of this set up. The motor is easy to operate as well.
Natural stone claddings highlight the wall in the patio. Meanwhile, the opaque stone veneer and the decorative wall paneling mirrors on the sides of the wash area add majestic charm to the dining space. The designer came up with the idea of the wall mirror as the family didn’t want the common bathroom here to be easily noticeable. The kitchen is furnished in glossy white and red and white combinations. The cupboards in this modular kitchen are made in marine plywood with seven mm lamination finish.
Ashwin says that it was the excellent planning during the construction of the house that helped in limiting the expenses at Rs 50 lakh. They had spent Rs 12 lakh for decorating the interiors and furnishing. Meanwhile, the structure, plumbing and electrical works, flooring and the painting jobs were completed in Rs 36 lakh.
The construction had been stalled for a year when Ashwin’s father, who had helped him build his dream home, passed away. However, it took over a year and a half to resume the work and complete the construction. Meanwhile, the price of the construction materials and labor charges had gone up significantly. Though Ashwin thought that these factors may exceed the budget, it didn’t affect the construction much. The family is incredibly happy that despite such difficulties they could get the perfect house of their dreams.
