The owner of this magnificent single-storied house in Chottanikkara in Kerala had quite a few demands, while the design of it was being made. He loved the coziness of single-storied structures and wanted long verandahs on both sides of the sit-out. Besides, he wanted to design the verandahs in a way which would grant him spectacular views of the one-and-half acres of paddy field and organic vegetable garden in front of his house. It was for this purpose that the surface of the plot, which lay in different levels, was raised using sand, up to 5 feet.

As the house is single storied, a unique design pattern is adopted to make the house look tall. Shingles are used for roofing. The beautiful landscaping, in fact, projects the mesmerizing look of the elevation. There is a small gazebo on the east side of the house.

Formal and family living areas, prayer area, study area, dining space, kitchen with an adjacent work area, utility space, 4 bath-attached bedrooms and a home theater are arranged in this spectacular house which sprawls in an area of 6500 sq ft.

Partitions are avoided in the interiors to give prominence to the common areas. The entrance door leads to the foyer space. There is a central courtyard which is the highlight of the interiors. All the main areas are arranged in a way which allows amazing views of this beautiful courtyard.

Seating arrangements are made in the open courtyard for the family members to relax here, by enjoying the natural sun shine, cool breeze and even the lush greenery. The glass roofing, operated on remote sensing technology, would be automatically closed when it rains.

The formal living area is to the right side of the foyer space, while the prayer area is to the left side. A slight variation in the heights of the floor makes this area stand out. A beautiful combination of wooden flooring and CNC cut work on timber lends a unique charm to this area. The walkway too features the classic touch of the wooden flooring.

The bedrooms are designed following the theme of minimalism. The huge windows let lots of natural light and air into the bedrooms. The eye-catching design features on the ceiling and the head rests make the bedrooms look extremely attractive and comfortable.

The modular kitchen has wooden design works on the ceiling. The counter top paved with nano white and the glass shutters on the cabinets make the kitchen look extremely luxurious and extravagant. The excellent trust relationship between the owner and the architect could be clearly perceived from the scintillating designs and the outstanding features of this dream dwelling.
