The KJo house is as slick as its owner

The dapper Karan Johar or KJo, as he’d have himself called, lives life king size. Everything about the Bollywood filmmmaker has to be different, right from his themes, his stories and choice of parenthood.

The man’s style extends to his home, the interiors of which were done up by no less a person than celebrity interior stylist Gauri Khan. The colourful character has one of the most stylish houses in Mumbai to suit his stature and status.

Built in the heart of the city, the duplex flat is often the scene of frenetic activity. Most often than not it’s the venue for parties and Bollywood happenings. It was Gauri who suggested that the spacious open terrace be converted into a party space. With elegant flooring and furniture suited for the purpose, the space wears a luxurious ambience. The terrace has now become the most-sought after haunt of partygoers like Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Varun Dhawan, Karishma Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.

Karan is father to twin babies Yash and Roohi, who were born via surrogacy, and it was Gauri again who designed their nursery. The nursery is the highlight of the Johar residency. The whole space, including the cradles, has been done up in white and cream themes. The flooring is in wood. Whenever his babies chose to have it, melodious notes fill the room. The lights too can be muted or brightened depending on the babies’ moods. It’s Karan’s mother who presides over his home.

The Johar joint has an estimated market value of Rs 30 cr-plus.
