The Miss World beauty pageant was officially kicked - off on a grand note at the iconic Ashok Hotel in Delhi. Around 115 contestants from around the globe would participate in the various rounds of competition. The contestants wore their national costumes to the inaugural ceremony, making it a celebration of cultures. Meanwhile, Sini Shetty who represents India at the beauty pageant impressed everyone in a classic red Banarasi sari.

Sharing the pictures Sini wrote, “Embracing India’s rich heritage with pride on the Miss World stage, draped in the elegance of sari.” Noting the reason why chose a sari for the event Sini wrote, “Tracing back thousands of years in Indian history, the sari symbolizes the rich history of our culture and the deep–rooted traditions that weave the fabric of our identity.”

Sini says that sari is a timeless attire that embraces elegance and feminine glory. It was designer Jayanti Reddy who designed the spectacular Banarasi sari for Sini. The hand-woven sari was dyed using natural colours. Meanwhile, the hand-embroidered intricate designs add to the extravagance and elegance of the fabric. The classic attire was presented as a personal design statement at the event.

Meanwhile, a few fashion-based websites report that the custom–made sari costs a whopping Rs 2,25,900. Sini wore a purple blouse to add the perfect contrast to the red sari. The blouse too was covered in beautiful embroidery works. Jayanti Reddy has been able to design a simple yet classy attire that showcase the authentic beauty of traditional fabric-making techniques. Sini calls the sari a fabulous attire that combines style, creativity and comfort. She added that she felt closely connected to her hometown when she wore the sari.

Sini accessorised her look with diamond studded rings, a necklace and an elaborate headpiece that perfectly complimented the sari. Meanwhile, she opted for minimal makeup in order to highlight the sari. It was celebrity stylist Raksha Singh who dressed Sini for the Miss World inaugural event.
