New York: The Met Gala red carpet also became a stage for pregnancy announcements in addition to being a chance for celebrities to flaunt their fashion statements, this year.
Speaking to the reporters at the star-studded Met Gala, tennis player Serena Williams said that there were "three of us" on the red carpet, revealing her baby bump. Serena, who donned a form-fitting black gown with a white skirt, arrived at the event with her husband Alexis Ohanian, an entrepreneur and the co-founder of Reddit.
"Was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the 3 of us to the Met Gala," she said in a TikTok post on Monday evening. Serena, a long-time friend of Wintour, the Vogue editor-in-chief and Met Gala co-chair, is a frequent attendee of the annual event to benefit the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute.
Pop singer Rihanna has never left any chances to flaunt her baby bump with grace and style. She walked hand in hand with her partner A$AP Rocky, adorning two outfits: first, a white Valentino gown with a jacket covered in 3D white floral motifs and then stripped down the latter into a shrug - for the event.
Supermodel and entrepreneur Karlie Kloss also took Met Gala as an opportunity to reveal her second pregnancy. She sported a black body-fitted column dress with long pearl necklaces. She walked along with her husband Joshua Kushner on the red carpet.
The gala, which is being held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, pays tribute to the legendary German designer Karl Lagerfeld, who died in 2019 at 85.
