Bollywood actress Sameera Reddy has once again thrown to the winds the general norms of beauty by posting a video on social media saying what is important is staying focussed on one's goals and not conforming to the conventional standards of glam looks.
Appearing without a makeup and showing off her grey hair Reddy revealed in the video that a message 'from the mom of an one-year-old,' drove her into posting the video.
“She used the words... that she doesn't feel beautiful. She feels really fat, used the word ugly,” she said about the new mom and stated that those were the 'words' she fought against.
“I mean I grew up always being compared to my thin sisters and when I went into the industry I was compared to everybody...I used to lighten my skin I used to do crazy things...I used to wear coloured lenses because I thought I needed that light-eyed look. I pad every part of my body which I didn't feel was keeping up with the norms...I do everything that at the end of the day that make me feel more crap about myself,” she said in the video.
She asked her followers to promise that they would 'stay focussed' on their goals. “I know I can angle myself and look really skinny right now or I can show you that I got double chin from the side...I got the flab going on...and will get over it... it will happen... I will loose my weight in good time...but right now stay happy...right now enjoy your baby...” she said.
She asked her followers to “focus on happiness and baby steps towards those goals of being healthy and not skinny...”
Reddy has always encouraged new mothers to accept their bodies and love the way they are. Earlier, the actress had revealed that after giving birth to her first child, she suffered from depression fearing that she didn’t look the way she expected her to be. But, she later realised that her body, after the baby, made her even more beautiful and powerful.
