Malayalam film actress and noted designer Poornima Indrajith has always amazed her fans with her pursuits in fashion. Her latest interpretation of mundu, or dhoti, for women, has been zealously greeted by her fans and fashionistas alike. It has now gone viral on social media.

Being different and creative have always been the hallmark of her designer stint. This time, the 37-year-old has re-invented mundu for women by adding a knot at the waist and draping it around her like a skirt.

She shared the pictures on her Facebook page with the hashtag #wearwwithyouchendamangalam pledging support to the ailing handloom industry in Kerala.

A strong campaigner for the revival of Chendamangalam handloom Poornima is also active supporter of the 'save the loom' campaign which benefits the Chendamangalam weavers.

The Chendamangalam handloom industry, which bore the brunt of two consecutive floods in the last couple of years, is yet again in hardship on account of the lockdown.

Poornima, actor Indrajith's wife, owns the popular designer wear brand, Pranaah, based in Kochi.
