Remercy Knowle had no doubt when she chose God’s Own Country as the location for her special Boudoir bridal photo shoot. She felt it right as her groom hailed from Kerala. Remercy flew down to Kerala from France for the marriage and to capture some of the crucial moments in her life as she donned the bride's attire.
Boudoir bridal shoot
Boudoir photography is a photographic style featuring intimate and sensual images, often clicked in a bedroom or a private dressing room. The bridal photo shoot happens in the dressing room of the bride, capturing special moments, as she gets ready to meet her groom. In France, Boudoir wedding photo shoots are part of their traditional wedding ceremonies. The photo shoot happens simultaneously as the bride gets dressed. The candid pictures feature the bride getting her hair and makeup done and donning the beautiful wedding dress as well. Usually, the Boudoir wedding photo shoot would be over in two hours. However, Remercy’s Boudoir bridal photo shoot lasted three hours with the photographers capturing every single emotion in beautiful frames.
The bride looked ethereal in her traditional French wedding gown, in pristine white. A white veil in flowing net fabric completed her look. Remercy posed for beautiful portraits even after getting ready as the bride.
The French tradition
As per the French tradition, the Boudoir wedding photo shoot is conducted for the groom. It depicts the various stages of how a young woman dresses up to meet her man on the aisle. Earlier, in the French aristocratic families, photos were clicked using the old film roll cameras, inside the bride’s bed chamber where she gets ready. The photos and the negatives of it would be neatly wrapped in glitter paper and gifted to the groom. Eventually, it transformed into full-fledged photography session using modern cameras and other equipment. The gifting of the Boudoir pictures to the groom has become an unavoidable tradition in the French Christian wedding celebrations.
Black and white combination
The incredible beauty, genuine emotions and the dainty movements of the bride were captured in the soft lights. The combination of black and white lent a magical charm to the pictures. The photographers at the Coconut Weddings who clicked the pictures say that the black and white combination helped not to project the nudity in the photos in which Remercy is seen changing into her bridal attire.
The bridal photo shoots of the typical Kerala weddings are extremely colourful. The pictures often look like a riot of colours and truly reflect the jocund spirit of the newlyweds. From the brightly coloured wedding saree to the exquisite gold ornaments that the bride wears, everything has to be captured in colour to convey the real beauty and charm of the moment. However, in western weddings, the brides mostly wear white wedding gowns which look amazing in the black and white pictures. Besides, the bride’s hands and legs would be exposed, in a Boudoir photo shoot, especially while she changes into her wedding attire. These physical features could be well defined and elegantly portrayed in black-and-white. This type of photo shoots is called light and shadow.
Remercy’s Boudoir bridal photo shoot was held in a resort in Kochi. As the wedding celebration would take place in France, a small and intimate function was held for the groom’s relatives in Kerala. The photo shoot was conducted as part of this private ceremony. Coconut Wedding Cinemas had conducted the photo shoot for Remercy. They say that though many couples fly down to Kerala for wedding and exclusive wedding photo shoots, it was for the first time that they had done a unique photo shoot as per the French tradition. The Coconut Wedding Cinemas is known for canning the wedding festivities of many celebrities including actresses Bhavana and Vidya Unni.
