Don't have a Voter ID? No worries, here how you can still vote

As India's mammoth general election is underway, the voters in Kerala are set to cast their franchise on April 23. In India, you can vote only if your name appears in the Voter List (also known as Electoral Roll) issued by the Election Commission.

A voter needs to carry the Elector's Photo ldentity Card (EPIC), popularly known as the Voter ID card, issued by the commission when one goes to the polling station to cast his ballot.

Photo Voter Slip issued by political parties will not be accepted as a stand-alone identification document for voting.

If you do not possess a card yet, you may produce any of the following 11 documents along with a self-attested affidavit:

• Passport

• Driving licence

• Identity cards issued by central or state governments or public sector undertakings or public listed companies to their employees

• Photo-affixed passbooks issued by post office or banks other than cooperative banks

• PAN card

• Aadhaar card

• Smart card from the National Population Registry

• Employment card issued under the MGNREGA

• Labour ministry's health insurance smart card

• Photo-affixed pension documents or a voter's slip issued by a booth-level officer

Verify your name on the list by either:

• Logging on to https://electoralsearch.in/

• Calling the Voter Helpline 1950 (please add your STD code before dialling)

• SMS <ECI> space <EPIC No> to 1950. Example - If your EPIC is 12345678 then sms ECI 12345678 to 1950.

How to find your Polling Booth:

• Voters may go to electoralsearch.in or use Voter Helpline App to find their polling booth.

• Voters may also call the Voter Helpline, the number is 1950 (please add your STD code before dialling).

• For Polling station location SMS <ECIPS> space <EPIC No> to 1950.

Note that Mobile phones, cameras or any other gadget is not allowed inside the polling booth.
