Kottayam: Kerala Congress (M) chairman K M Mani’s son Jose K Mani wrote a note of remembrance to his illustrious father who passed away in a hospital in Kochi on Tuesday. The Rajya Sabha MP said that his family and party would not be the same from now on.
“Father has left us forever,” the junior Mani wrote on Facebook. “He was under treatment in a hospital in Kochi for some days. His condition worsened today (Tuesday) evening.
“I feel a void at this moment, like I am losing all the courage he had imparted in me. I feel like I am left alone in life. My father’s care is no more. He was an ocean of love and care. He was with each pulse of the Karingozhaykkal house even when he was busy in politics, like a shade to mother and a loving touch for us.
“Punctuality and discipline were his trademarks. He was as keen on maintaining personal integrity in public life as spotless as his white dress. I can’t forget his passion for humanity, tolerance and kindness. I can cite many many instances.
“Having earned a law degree from Chennai in those days, he made it a point that his children received the same kind of education. He urged me to study away from home, in Tamil Nadu. I could only admire his vision when I entered public life.
“Perhaps he loved his party more than his family. The Kerala Congress family weighed more in his scale of love. The party he nurtured is the wish of thousands of workers. Father used to say that all he had were the party workers who loved the party dearly.
“His departure is more heartbreaking to each party worker than us. I don’t have any words to console them. Nothing can replace him. The Karingozhaykkal House is without father from now. The Kerala Congress is without him.”
