The Congress has alleged that Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa tried to lure BC Patil, MLA, to the BJP fold by offering him cash and other enticements. An audio clip, purportedly of the chief minster offering cash to the MLA, has been doing the rounds on social media in the past two days.
Onmanorama could not independently ascertain the veracity of the clip.
In the clip, 'BSY' is heard urging the MLA to stay back in Bangalore and not to 'proceed' with the entourage of legislators herded to a 'safe haven in Kochi in Kerala' by the Congress-JD(S) combine.
Also, another audio clip of a telephone conversation between Yedyurappa's son BY Vijayendra and the wife of a Congress MLA has also been released by some Congress leaders. In this, Vijayendra is heard saying that 'her husband will be made a minster and the cases against her son would be withdrawn.'
Another clip, reportedly that of Bellary mining baron Janardhana Reddy trying to offer inducements to Congress legislator Basana Gowda was also doing the rounds. The businessman 'offers' him a minster berth and 'hundred times more wealth.'
