Kochi: Kerala Blasters football club coach David James quit on Tuesday, Varun Tripuraneni, chief executive of the club said and wished him all the best for his future.

"I'd like to thank the management, players and all staff for their support during my stint with the club. I wish them the very best for the future. The fans here have been amazing and I’d like to thank them too for a memorable experience," David James said in a statement.

Confirming the reports of head coach's departure, Blasters' CEO said "The club would like to thank David for his efforts towards the team and wishes him all the very best in his career."

James was appointed coach in January and the team's performance at the fourth edition of the Indian Super League at the half way mark has been poor with just one victory in 12 outings.

The first half of the present edition has come to a close and the second half would resume in February.

On Sunday, Kerala Blasters were thrashed 1-6 by Mumbai City, which nearly made it certain that James might exit.

Blasters have been struggling this season with only nine points from 12 games and are in the eighth spot.
