Panaji: Forty-five movies, cutting across genres and from across the world, will be screened on Friday, the seventh day of the International Film Festival of India which is on here. However, there won't be any Malayalam film screened today.
Top picks for the day by some of the experts include, The summer of Sangaile by Alante Kavaite, Accused by Paul Van Der Oest, Three windows and a hanging by Isa Qosja, Cemetery of splendour by Appichtpong Weerasethakul Land and shade by Cesar Augusto Acevedo and Our little sister by Hirokazu Koreeda.
As part of the Restored Classics section, the audience will get a chance to watch the 1968-epic sci-fi film 2001: A space Odyssey on big screen today. Shyam Benegal's 1978 film Junoon will be screened as part of a retrospective on actor Shashi Kapoor.
Films such as Eva Nova by Marko Skop and Gasper Noe's 3D film Love will have repeat screenings today.
Apart from screenings, other major attractions of the day include a master class on direction by Omprakash Mehra, a workshop on 'Digital cinematography: New technologies and filmmaking' by Nandan Saxena and Kavita Behl.
On Thursday, Malayalm film Ottal was screened before a packed audience. Apart from Love, Neeraj Ghavayan's Masaan and The Assassin by Hou Hsiao-hsien, who won the best director award at Cannes for the film, were also screened.
Malayalam film Manjadikkuru by Anjali Menon was also screened as part of the 'Womenclature' section.
Baahubali cinematographer K.K. Senthilkumar conducted a class in which he explained the process of shooting the movie, which turned out to be an ever-time blockbuster in India.
Meanwhile, a section of Malayalam filmmakers and writers on Thursday expressed solidarity with the protesting students of FTII through a statement. The statement has sought an unconditional apology from the IFFI officials for their ill-treatment of the FTII students at the international film festival.
