Thiruvananthapuram: Almost 72 percent of traders in Kerala have been roped in to the Goods and Services Tax net but nobody knows for sure if the GST Network will allow a smooth transition to the new tax structure. The GSTN will go live without a trial run on July 1.
As many as 2,00,669 traders in Kerala have already tuned in to the GST, making Kerala one of the states leading in the efforts to usher in the new system. Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra are the only states apart from the Union Territory of Chandigarh which have performed better than Kerala so far.
The back-end software module to accept the registrations has been made available but modules to fix taxes, appeal, audit, refund and e-way bills are still in the works.
