Finger millet is touted as one of the most nutritious cereals that's been used in our households from times immemorial. Rich in protein, dietry fibre, minerals and more, it's used to cook many delicious food items like dosas and idlis, porridge, desserts, breads and chapathis.
It's considered a healthy substitute for milk and diary products too, and even flavoured ragi tea is becoming popular among health enthusiasts these days.
In the International Year of millets, we bring you a healthy yet delectable chocolate brownie using finger millet powder.
Ingredients
1 ½ cups millet powder
140 gms white chocolate
200 gms condensed milk
20 gms unsalted butter
200 ml milk
½ tsp vanilla essence
A pinch of salt
1 egg
Preparation
Lightly toast the millet powder for five minutes
Keep it aside to be used later
Melt the white chocolate pieces by adding condensed milk in the double boiling method
Add butter and mix well
Take millet powder, chocolate mix and mil in a bowl
Mix well
Heat this mixture for two minutes on medium flame
Add vanilla essence and salt
Mix well and turn off the flame
Allow this mixture to cool
Now add the egg
Add chocolate chips (optional)
Give everything a good mix
Pour the batter into a 7 seven cake tin lined with butter paper
Bake for 30 minutes in a pre heated oven of 180 degrees
Cut the brownies into desired shapes after it cools down.
