Ingredients
½ kg anchovies
¼ cup shallots
3 green chillies
Coconut oil
Salt
Curry leaves
½ - 1 cup drumstick leaves
1 tbsp ginger
1 tbsp garlic
3 dried chillies
¼ cup grated coconut
¼ tsp + ¼ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp + 1 ½ tsp chilli powder
½ tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp lemon juice
¼ tsp pepper powder
Preparation
Clean the anchovies
Marinate them with lemon juice, salt, ¼ tsp turmeric powder and 1 tsp chilli powder
Keep them aside for at least an hour
Heat coconut oil in a pan
Splutter mustard seeds
Sauté garlic, green chillies and dried chillies
Now add the shallots and ginger
Sauté well
Into it add ¼ tsp turmeric powder and 1 ½ tsp chilli powder
Sauté until the raw smell of the powders is gone
Add the marinated anchovies
Mix well
Pour ¼ cup water
Cook with the lid on
Add the drumstick leaves when the water reduces a bit
Cook for 2 minutes
Now add the grated coconut
Add salt, curry leaves and ¼ tsp finely chopped ginger
Give everything a good mix
Anchovies green peera is ready!
