Sweet mixture: Your kid's evening snack

Sweet mixture that comes in myriad colours is loved by both kids and adults alike. This tasty snack could be easily prepared at home using minimal ingredients. Here is how to make sweet mixture at home.

Preparation
1 cup gram flour
1 cup water
1 tbsp ghee
A pinch of salt
Red, green and yellow food colour
Oil to fry
¼ cup peanuts
¼ cup roasted gram
¾ cup sugar
¼ cup water
1 tsp cardamom powder

Preparation
Sift the gram flour so that there won’t be any lumps
Pour water slowly and mix into loose batter
Into it add ghee, salt and a few drops of yellow food colour
Separate this batter into two parts
Add green food colour in one and red in another (adding colour is optional)
Heat oil in a pan
Lower the flame when the oil is very hot
Pour the batter into the hot oil through a kannappa (skimmer)
The batter would drop into the oil as droplets
Fry until these are crispy
Fry the peanuts and roasted gram too in the same oil
In a thick bottomed vessel take sugar, ¼ cup water and cardamom powder
Turn off the flame when the syrup has one string consistency
Into the sugar syrup add the fried mixture
Mix well
Store in an air tight container.
