Check out the pretty simple recipe of delicious rose petal payasam that has a mild fragrance too.
Ingredients
3 cups water
5 tbsp basmati rice
2 tsp ghee
10 - 12 almonds (chopped)
1 ½ litres milk (full fat)
200 gms sugar (or as required)
1 rose flower (petals)
Preparation
Soak the basmati rice for 20 minutes
Crumble the soaked rice in a mixer jar
Heat ghee in a pan
Roast the crumbled rice in hot ghee for 3 minutes
Set it aside
Turn off the flame
Now add rose petals and roast for 1 -2 minutes
Set them aside to be used later
Meanwhile, boil milk in a pan
Add sugar
Boil until the milk thickens up and reduces to half
Into it add the roasted basmati rice
Boil until the rice is cooked nicely
Add some rose petals and boil for some more time
Now add roasted almonds and petals too
Boil for 2 -3 minutes
Rose petal payasam tastes best when enjoyed cold.
