6 grated coconut
Water as required
Preparation
Grind the grated coconut with water as required in a mixer jar
Squeeze out the first extract of coconut milk by wrapping the coconut paste in a muslin cloth or passing it through a strainer
Add more water into the coconut paste and grind again
Take the second extract of coconut milk too
Mix the first and the second extracts of coconut milk
Keep it in the fridge for at least 2 hours
After 2 hours, the thick coconut cream would float on top
Scoop this out and transfer into a thick bottomed vessel
Now boil the thick coconut cream
Do not forget to stir occasionally
After some time, oil begins to ooze out
Turn off the flame when the oil separates completely from the coconut milk and turns brown in colour
After the oil has cooled down, strain it using a sieve or using a soft cloth
Store the virgin coconut oil in dry jars.
