Ingredients
½ cup vegetable oil
¾ cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp coco powder
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla essence
3 tbsp coffee powder
¼ tsp salt
5 egg whites
5 egg yolks
¾ cup all purpose flour
For the butter cream
1 ¼ cup unsalted butter
3 cups powdered sugar/icing sugar
1 tbsp coffee powder
2 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla essence
For the sugar syrup
4 tbsp sugar
½ cup water
For the chocolate syrup
¾ cup dark chocolate
½ cup fresh cream
Preparation
Take the all purpose flour, salt, baking powder, coco powder and coffee powder in a bowl
Mix well and set it aside
Meanwhile, beat the eggs using an electric beater in another bowl
Add powdered sugar slowly and beat well
Now add the egg yolks, vanilla essence and vegetable oil
Beat well
Into it add the dry ingredients gradually
Fold well
Pour the batter into an 8 inch greased cake pan
Bake for 20 - 25 degrees in a pre heated oven of 180 degrees
To make the mocha butter cream, mix milk and coffee powder in a small bowl
Take butter, vanilla essence and the coffee mix in another bowl
Beat well
Make the sugar syrup by mixing the sugar and water
You could make the chocolate syrup by melting chocolate with fresh cream using the double boiling method or in a microwave oven
Cut the cake into three layers
Spread some butter cream in the centre of a 9 inch cake base
Place a layer of cake and moisten it using the sugar syrup
Now spread the butter cream
Repeat the layers
Keep the cake the in the fridge for at least 30 minutes
After 30 minutes, spread another layer of butter cream to cover the cake
Pour the chocolate syrup over the cake
Decorate the delicious mocha cake as you wish.
