Ingredients
1 cup chickpeas
½ cup onion (chopped)
½ cup shallots (chopped)
2 green chilies
1 small piece ginger
½ tsp mustard seeds
1 dried chili
1/4 cup grated coconut
½ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp chili powder
1 tsp coriander powder
½ tsp garam masala
¼ tsp fennel powder
Curry leaves
3 tsp coconut oil
Salt as required
Preparation
Soak the chickpeas for at least 7-8 hours
Drain them and transfer into a pressure cooker
Pressure cook the chickpeas with some water and salt until 5-6 whistles
Heat coconut oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds and dried chili
Saute onions, shallots, grated coconut and curry leaves until they turn golden in colour
Now add turmeric powder, chili powder, garam masala and fennel powder
Saute until the raw smell of the powders are gone
Into it add the cooked chickpeas along with water
Cook until the water reduces completely
