Cheruvazha thoran recipe

Corm or bulb is a psuedostem or an offshoot that grows at the base of a plantain tree. Usually, this part is removed to allow the banana tree to grow effortlessly. However, not many know that delicious thoran (stir fry) could be made using the cheruvazha or corm. Try this unique cheruvazha thoran recipe which is quite simple.

Ingredients
1 cup corm (remove the leafy sheaths, wash and finely chop)
1 cup spit pigeon dal (boiled)
Coconut as required
2 green chillies
A pinch of cumin
3 cloves garlic
3 tsp coconut oil

Preparation
Crush the grated coconut, green chillies, cumin and garlic cloves together.
Heat coconut oil in a pan and splutter some mustard seeds.
Add the finely chopped corm along with salt as required.
Cook with the lid on.
After the moisture content has been lost, add the boiled split pigeon dal.
Mix well.
Now add the crushed coconut mixture.
Garnish with curry leaves.
