Momo is a soft dumpling with delicious filling, which has its origins in the Southeast Asia. The Tibetan people love their momos, steamed to perfection, to keep them warm in the chilly weather. Try out this fairly simple recipe of momos at home.

Ingredients
For the momo sheets:
2 cups all-purpose flour
Salt as required
½ cup hot water
For the filling:
1 cup mushroom (chopped)
½ cup minced meat
½ cup onion (finely chopped)
½ cup green spinach (chopped)
2 tsp green chillies
1 tsp coriander leaves
Salt as required
½ tsp sugar
1 tsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp ginger (chopped)

Preparation
For the momo sheets:
Mix everything into soft dough
Place the dough in a greased vessel with the lid on and keep aside for at least one and half hours
Give it a good knead and separate into four balls
Roll each ball into thin rectangular sheets and cut square portions of 10 x 10 centimetres from it
Sprinkle some flour on top of these momo sheets to prevent them from sticking
Cover with a wet towel and keep
For the filling:
Heat oil in a pan and sauté the ginger
Into it add the mushroom, minced meat, onion, spinach, green chillies, coriander leaves, sugar, soy sauce and salt as required
Cook well on low flame
Allow the mixture to cool down
Place a spoon full of this filling in the middle of the previously prepared momo sheets
Fold the edges to make it into triangular packets
Make frill by folding one on top of another until the momo is sealed
Cook in steam
Serve hot with chilli sauce or other dipping sauces.
Or
Roll the dough and cut into round shaped sheets
Place the filling in the centre of the momo sheet
Hold the edges of the sheet and fold it into a pouch with the filling inside
Seal the momos by making small frills.
