Different from the slew of payasams that greet you for Onam, the fruit payasam becomes the best dessert after the Onasadhya. This payasam is a sweet mixture of fruits and dry fruits and can be prepared in just 15 minutes.
Ingredients
2 tbsp sugar
1 litre milk
4 tbsp milk powder
1/2 tin condensed milk
1 small packet sago pearls palm (chowari)
Ghee as needed
Sugar as needed
A pinch of cardamom
Fruits
1/2 pineapple, sliced into small pieces
1 pomegranate
1 banana (nenthran), sliced
1 apple, sliced
Dry fruits
15 cashew nuts
15 raisins
15 pistas/badams
Preparation
In a wok, pour water and add sugar
Add the sliced fruits in it
Boil the mixture
Once it is boiled, let it cool
In another bowl, add milk, milk powder, condensed milk and 1/2 cup water
Boil it well until it thickens
Add cooked sago pearls palm (chowari) and mix well
Once it is properly boiled, add half of the dry fruits in it
Add enough sugar
Add cardamom powder and let it cool
Roast the rest of the dry fruits with ghee and add it to the above mixture
Also add the cooked fruits in it
Your fruit payasam is ready
