Non-veg fusion recipes are the new yums in town. Rasam is an all time favorite of south Indians. Be it summer, winter or monsoon, hot and steamy rasam is the best thing to have at the end of (or after) a meal.
Rasam can speed up your metabolism and thus help in losing weight. Rasam is also the best food to have when you are sick or have a fever. The mutton makes this magic drink even more delicious.
Ingredients
½ kg mutton, with bones
¼ tsp turmeric powder
2 each of cinnamon, cloves and cardamom
2 cup of water
3 tsp oil
1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
2 large tomatoes
½ tsp cumin powder
½ tsp black pepper powder
1 tsp garam masala powder
1 gooseberry size tamarind, soaked
Salt, curry leaves and coriander leaves as needed
Preparation
Add turmeric powder, cinnamon, cloves and cardamom to rinsed and cleaned mutton
Add water to it and cook well
Pour oil in a pan add ginger-garlic paste to it, sauté well
After the raw smell disappear, add sliced tomatoes and sauté till the oil becomes clear
Add cumin powder, pepper powder and garam masala to it
Squeeze the soaked tamarind to it, add water, salt and let it boil
Add mutton to it and let it cook
When the mutton is cooked, add curry leaves and coriander leaves to the curry and serve hot
