A rich custard-jelly fruit salad

Hot weather tiring you out? Bring out the fresh fruits, add some jelly and whip up some custard. Ta-da, there's you lovely fruit salad.

Ingredients
6-8 oranges, pods plucked, seed and film removed
3 apples, sliced
2 handfuls of seedless grapes, each cut into two
6-8 njaalippoovan bananas, cut in circles
1 cup apricot cooked with sugar
Brandy, orange juice, honey, as required
A few basil leaf
A few blanched almonds
1 packet jelly


For the custard


2 tsp corn flour
1l milk
2 beaten eggs
½ cup sugar
A tinge of vanilla

Preparation
Keep the prepared fruits soaked in brandy, orange juice and honey
Add almonds to it. Keep in fridge to cool
Prepare jelly as per instructions on the jelly packet. Keep in fridge to set
For the custard, dissolve corn flour in a little milk, add the 1 litre milk, eggs, sugar and vanilla, and stir
Keep on low flame and remove when it begins to solidify
While serving, transfer fruits to a bowl and add finely cut jelly
Pour custard on top and serve
