Are you in the mood to have a colourful Independence Day celebration on August 15, but too busy for elaborate decorations or cooking? Here are some easy tricolour food ideas that you can try at home without spending much time on them! And what's more, many of them are nutritious as well.

1) Tricolour salad
All you need are some carrots, radishes or cauliflower, and any green colour vegetables and you are good to go! Not only does it give out a strong Independence Day vibe, but is also nutritious to the core. If you have time, go for some stylised chopping of the veggies but even otherwise, this salad bowl will look fancy on your platter.

2) Tricolour sandwich
All you need are some chopped or diced carrots, green-coloured capsicum and some mashed paneer along with bread. Spread them as layers inside the bread, one atop another, and you are good to go!

3) Ice-creamy tricolour
A bowl of orange ice cream, another bowl of vanilla and mint flavours placed in the tricolour order gives you an ice-creamy I-Day dessert! What can be simpler yet yummier than this?

4) Nutritious tricolour puttu
You might have seen numerous videos of tri-colour puttu recipes that aren't, however, easy enough. However, if you have a chiratta puttu maker at home, all you need to do is layer it first with a handful of grated carrots, followed by rice powder and finally, some steamed green gram that's often eaten with puttu. Steam them together and what you get is a nutritious tricolour puttu! You won't even need any other curries to eat it!

5) Idli with tricolour chutney
If at all you don't want to cook idli, order it from restaurants and you will most probably get it with white coconut chutney, green mint chutney and orange-coloured tomato chutney. Present them in white colour bowls and you have a delicious I-Day breakfast!
