Say Cheers! Or Slainte! Here’s something out-of-the-usual bottle for the love of spirits... bio booze or bio liquor as its makers claim. That is, alcohol brewed with tulsi, aloe vera, gooseberry, ashwagandha (Indian ginseng) and a host of other Ayurvedic ingredients. From now on, the Bengaluru-based Bio Liquors will bring out whisky, brandy, rum and vodka flavoured with these age-old Indian leaves and berries and herbs.
As good as they can be on these natural ingredients, is what the company claims. The bio liquor is therefore not only pure, but rich in Nature’s bounty.
The new product is likely to open up the floodgates to a thriving business in oleoresin extracts, essences, and other flavouring agents. Companies in Kerala have already begun working on the possibilities of supplying extracts. They are keen on coming out with pure and unadulterated extracts of tulsi and ashwagandha to either enter into the business of brewing or act as suppliers of Nature's flavours.
It looks like the domestic market is out to benefit from the sale and use of oleoresins in liquor production. Bio Liquors has already set the trend by blending liquor with ayurvedic extracts, herbs and spices. The company which has for long been in the production of ayurvedic medicines, has earned a name for itself and has won the prestigious Indira Priyadarsini national award.
The company also won laurels at the spirit tasting competition held recently in the US. Not only is bio liquor kind to the liver, but it also washes away toxins the body tends to accumulate, says Bio Liquors MD Srinivasa Rayalu.
Buoyed up by the response to the new product, the company is all set to for making bio-wine, bio-beer and bio-tequila with the very same ingredients. So it’s going o be cheers all the way for Bio Liquors!
