Tea tasting, according to seasoned tea tasters, is an art that has the credible backing of science. The color, aroma and taste of the tea depend up on the physical or geographical conditions of the place where the tea plantations are grown. The incredible palettes of the tasters can even recognize the level of oxidation or the bitterness of tea leaves. The ‘fate’ of those tea leaves is ‘sealed’ once the tea taster gives them a quality certificate. “Your taste buds should always be active so spicy food loaded with masala is a big no. Teeth should be cleaned frequently to keep the mouth always fresh,” says Adona.

Adona completed her bachelors degree in BSc (Food Science and Quality Control) before pursuing an MBA in Quality Management. She has been a tea taster and quality controller at Harrisons Malayalam Limited for the past 4 years.
