Playback singer Jyotsna Radhakrishnan who crooned her way into our hearts with songs like 'Karuppinazhaku' has asked people to practice self-love and not selfishness.
In an Instagram video, the singer said she feels strongly about the subject and felt it was important to discuss the difference between the two. "Self love is a thing now. Everyone is trying to practice it. Self-love means loving and respecting oneself, the same way we love and give dignity to others. It's a lovely concept, especially for people who are in abusive relationships and those who are trying to find oneself
However, what I see are people doing whatever the heck they want without any sort of moral compass and claiming that is self love without any consideration for people in their lives who love and respect them,” she said.
The playback singer asks how can such acts be called self-love. “How can you call what you practice self-love if you tell others to adjust with with whatever way you choose to live. If that is your idea of self love, let me tell you, that is just selfishness. You are just being a narcissist,” the singer said.
“Pls note : Self Love is not Selfishness 🙄 Having a moral compass and taking accountability is important too,” she concluded.
