Kerala's prominent social worker Sheeba Ameer, whose organisation Solace that supports families struggling to treat children with life-threatening conditions, has teamed up with noted composer-singer Veetraag to bring out a single on Valentine's Day on Sunday.

Penned by Sheeba, the single titled Neelimayanente Pranayam, meaning Blue is My Love, takes music lovers through her intimacy and affection towards the myriad treasures of nature and human emotions.

Sheeba is the chief patron of Solace, an organisation she founded after watching the travails of her daughter Nilufar's 16-year-long fight with cancer. Since its launch 14 years ago, Solace has been financially supporting thousands of children across Kerala.

Sheeba said her personal struggles had an impact on her lyrics. "There was a time when I decided to end my life while going through a bad patch. But soon I realised that I should wait to experience nature's bounty unfolding before us. Then I waited for years to see Neelakurinji in full bloom and I realised that love blooms from nature. So this poem is about those personal struggles and realisations," Sheeba told Onmanorama.

Veetraag, who co-composed music for films such as Gadhama, August Club, Out of Syllabus, Dr Patient and Sooryakireedam with Bennet, has tuned and rendered Neelimayanente Pranayam.

"I could not think of a better singer than Veetraag to render this nostalgic song," Sheeba said.

Veetraag said the song is a perfect gift to music lovers on Valentine's Day. "Sheeba has weaved magic with her pen and this song will give you a different take on love," said Veetraag.
