Playback singer Swetha Mohan is someone who has carved a niche for herself in the industry with her talent and passion. Swetha has never let her mother and renowned singer Sujatha's shadow over her in playback singing despite inheriting her talents.
Talking in an exclusive chat show 'Nere Chowe' in Manorama News, Swetha was asked what she feels on gender discrimination.
Shweta denied having any such bias in her career initially, but she soon pointed out a few glaring instances of bias. “I personally haven't experienced or felt about it. But yes, such kind of situations exist. Mostly, when you go for a show a female (artiste) is often termed as 'support singer',” she said.
Further she said, “At my own show, Swetha Mohan Live, I was asked if I was singing alone and if I would be able to sing alone. So that kind of questions are a little hard to accept”, she said.
