Back in 1999, Sandeep Rajasekharan and P. R. Prabash were batch mates in medical campus, roomies, fast friends and musicians in their own right—both members of college music band EA 24/7. Today, Dr Rajasekharan is a cardiologist at Rajagiri Hospital, Aluva and Dr Prabash, a consultant neurologist at Appolo Hospital, Chennai.
Although both of their lives have become busier than ever before, the doctors vouch that something always remained the same—their love for music. For the same reason, the release of their music album Thai Aval was a dream come true moment for both of them.
When the rest of the world limited their Mothers’ Day celebration to selfie-with-mom and FB posts, the two doctors took it a little further: they went ahead and created a music video as a tribute to working moms who juggle too many balls at a time.
Apparently, it was Prabash’s wife Revathi who crooned for the album. Dr Rajasekharan, who did the music, along with his childhood friend Unnikrishnan, said, “Thai Aval is a tribute to working mothers around the globe. It sends out a message that with every child, a mother too is born.”
“Setting the tunes for the album was not a cakewalk. From setting the scale to the voice of the singer and getting original instruments for background, each part had to be meticulously planned,” said Unnikrishnan.
The album shines spotlight on the fact that a woman need not deliver a baby to become a mother as motherhood is innate to them.
The song, which was released on Mother’s Day, has opened to a positive response from the public. The credit goes to the director of the album Jathin Sanker Raj, for brilliantly portraying the struggles, sacrifices and longings of working moms.
The promotional poster of the album, designed by Karthik Chidambaram, who deals with the marketing and promotions, has also been widely appreciated. The poster brilliantly captures a mother and child, alongside the image of a teary-eyed woman.
“Even though we are all Keralites, we chose to release the album in Tamil as most of us are based in Chennai,” Karthik said.
