Before entering the cinema industry, Binu Pappu had worked in the animation sector, in Bengaluru, for almost thirteen years. He has been entertaining the Malayali audience with a style of his own since 2013. Now, Binu is on cloud nine as his performance in ‘Saudi Vellaka’ is garnering praise from all corners. Interestingly, Binu is also the chief associate director of the movie. In a candid chat, Binu opens up about his character in the movie and also about his future projects.
How did you land the role in ‘Saudi Vellakka’?
Director Tarun Moorthy had narrated the story of ‘Saudi Vellakka’ on the sets of ‘Operation Java’. However, he hadn’t imagined me in any role at that time. Tarun wanted Rosshan Andrrews to play the role of Britto that was essayed by me. But, I was roped in when Rosshan couldn’t act due to a clash of dates.
How did you feel when a real-life incident was turned into a movie?
This movie could be described as a feel-good entertainer. There are lots of instances in the film that are really close to our lives. In fact, this movie is quite special as it is based on a real-life incident. Some changes and additions have been made to make it cinematically appealing. Besides, the film boasts of an incredible line-up of actors.
You are getting busy behind the camera too?
I am writing the screenplay for a movie. Tarun Moorthy would be the director of that film too. The film, a thriller, will go on the floors in August next year.
When do you plan to become a director?
Direction is one of my long-cherished dreams. I have begun writing the film that I plan to direct. I hope to begin the filming within two years. I have already started approaching actors. I would dedicate my time entirely to this film after I complete a few projects to that I have committed.
