Talking about Saira, director Rupesh Paul had once revealed that it was hard to convince her to sign the film.

Actress Saira Khan, who played the lead role in the 2013 film 'Kamasutra 3D', died of cardiac arrest on Sunday night. Now, reports say that prior to her sudden demise, she had shared her plans with the director of her popular movie.

Revealing it to an online website, 'Kamasutra 3D' director Rupesh Paul, was quoted as saying, "Yes, she had called me. She asked me to plan something like a web series with her in the lead. And I told her that it should have a big male star opposite her which would make the project commercially viable. Saira told me that she had a friend who could invest in the venture. I was thinking over it and then I got to know the dreadful news about her premature death. I am shocked beyond words."

Interestingly, Saira had replaced Sherlyn Chopra who was initially cast in 'Kamasutra 3D'. It is the only Indian film with five songs to be selected in the Original Song contention category for the 86th Academy Awards in 2014.

"It was difficult for Saira to sign the film because she came from a very conservative Muslim family and to make a debut with such a bold film after all the fuss in the media about it was in itself challenging. It took us months to finally get her on board but the wait was worth it as nobody else could've done justice to the movie unlike her," Rupesh recalled.

Hailing from Cherthala in Alappuzha district, Rupesh has helmed a few Malayalam movies including 'Raktharakshassu 3D', 'Mrigam' and 'Pithavum Kanyakayum'.
