Kochi: Veteran Malayalam filmmaker K G George has been chosen for the inaugural Masters Award instituted by the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA).
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh and will be given away at a ceremony slated for a later date.
George is one of the most celebrated filmmakers of Kerala who modernised the Malayalam cinema in the 1970s. He is noted for deep psychological analysis and character study of human mind in his films.
He is also the founder-chairman of Malayalam Cine Technicians Association (MACTA). He has also served as the chairman of the Kerala State Film Development Corporation.
The director's last movie Elavamkodu Desam, starring Mammooty and Khushboo, was released in 1998.
