Actors Jayaram and Sreenivasan got the first Samashti award instituted for cine artistes promoting farming.
“The award comprising a citation and shield was instituted to recognise the efforts of the film fraternity in generating public interest in farming,” said agriculture Minister K. P. Mohanan.
The awards would be given away at the inaugural function of the State farm day celebrations in Kannur on August 16.
