Kochi: In the wake of the alleged abduction and harassment of a young actress, a meeting of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) held in Kochi on Tuesday sought concrete measures to ensure safety of female artistes in the industry.
Observing that the safety of women artistes is a major concern, the meeting urged those concerned to take efforts to avoid female artistes traveling alone during the day and at night.
A decision has also been taken to stand behind the victim and provide legal assistance to her. The meeting, attended by the association’s core committee members, also decided to extend full support to the ongoing police investigation.
Active participation of the Kerala Film Producers' Association and the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) will be sought in the coordinated efforts to ensure safety of the artistes. The office-bearers of both the associations will be notified of the decision.
