The film written by Lohithadas, directed by Bharathan and starring Mammootty in the lead role, was screened under the retrospective category at the festival.
The screening was held as a tribute to the cinematographer of the film Madhu Ambat, who is celebrating 50 years in cinema. Madhu Ambat was present at the screening. It was also an occasion to commemorate late artists who contributed to the film.
During the Q&A session, Madhu Ambat said that every scene in the film was special to him.
Murali, Maathu, K P A C Lalitha, Ashokan, Chitra, Kuthiravattam Pappu, among others, play prominent roles in the movie. K P A C Lalitha had won the National Award for the best supporting actress for her character in 'Amaram' that is considered as an iconic movie in the pantheon of Malayalam classics.
The film had also won three State Awards - the best actor for Murali, the best actress for KPAC Lalitha and the best cinematography for Madhu Ambat.
